Bambu Lab A1 Without the Cloud — LAN-Only mode for getting started.

The A1 (and the smaller A1 mini) is Bambu Lab's open entry-level printer — affordable, simple, AMS-lite capable. Here too the cloud can be switched off. Here's how to run the A1 in LAN-Only mode.

Basics

What to keep in mind for the A1 in LAN-Only mode.

The A1 is an open bed-slinger designed for ease of use; AMS lite enables multi-material printing. In LAN-Only mode the printer runs purely locally — printing and monitoring happen via the slicer on your own network.

Because many A1 users value the convenient Handy app, the loss of convenience is most noticeable here: remote access from outside the network and app control drop out in LAN-Only mode. Printing on your own network remains fully possible.

  • Open bed-slinger, beginner-friendly, AMS-lite capable
  • Local printing and monitoring on the network remain usable
  • App remote access from outside the LAN is the most noticeable loss

Enable LAN-Only mode — in brief

  • On the printer display: Settings → General → LAN-Only mode, then confirm.
  • The printer shows an access code and its local IP address.
  • In your slicer (Bambu Studio or OrcaSlicer), add the printer via IP and access code.
  • Or print via microSD card with no network at all.

The exact menu wording may vary depending on firmware version.

From single printer to fleet

Multiple Bambu Lab A1 without the cloud — but centrally managed.

LAN-Only mode solves cloud-free operation per device. For multiple printers in production you need central job, material, user and reporting management — data-sovereign, in house. That is exactly what leanAM MES adds as an on-premise system, across manufacturers and without cloud lock-in.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions — Bambu Lab A1 without the cloud.

Can you use the Bambu Lab A1 without the cloud?

Yes. The A1 (and A1 mini) supports LAN-Only mode and then operates exclusively on the local network. You print via Bambu Studio or OrcaSlicer on the same network or via microSD card. App remote access from outside drops out.

Does AMS lite work on the A1 without the cloud?

Multi-material printing via AMS lite is controlled through the slicer and printer and does not depend on the cloud. The exact feature set depends on the firmware version.

How do I run multiple A1 without the cloud in a company?

For centrally operating several A1 printers, an on-premise MES such as leanAM augments local control with job, material and user management — without cloud dependency.
