Bambu Lab X2D Without the Cloud — LAN-Only mode for the X1C successor.

The X2D is Bambu Lab's successor to the X1 Carbon: an enclosed printer with a dual-nozzle toolhead and an actively heated chamber for technical materials. You can run it without the manufacturer cloud in LAN-Only mode too.

Basics

What to keep in mind for the X2D in LAN-Only mode.

The X2D replaces the X1 Carbon and, as an enclosed printer with a dual-nozzle toolhead and an actively heated chamber, is built for technical materials such as ABS, ASA and Nylon; AMS multi-material printing is supported. In LAN-Only mode you continue to work locally via the slicer on your own network.

As with the other models, LAN-Only mode removes remote access from outside the network and cloud-bound convenience services. Local printing, transfer and monitoring on your own network remain possible. The exact feature set is determined by the installed firmware.

  • Enclosed, dual-nozzle toolhead, heated chamber for technical materials
  • AMS multi-material printing and local monitoring on the network stay usable
  • Remote access from outside the LAN and cloud convenience drop out

Enable LAN-Only mode — in brief

  • On the printer display: Settings → General → LAN-Only mode, then confirm.
  • The printer shows an access code and its local IP address.
  • In your slicer (Bambu Studio or OrcaSlicer), add the printer via IP and access code.
  • Or print via microSD card with no network at all.

The exact menu wording may vary depending on firmware version.

From single printer to fleet

Multiple Bambu Lab X2D without the cloud — but centrally managed.

LAN-Only mode solves cloud-free operation per device. For multiple printers in production you need central job, material, user and reporting management — data-sovereign, in house. That is exactly what leanAM MES adds as an on-premise system, across manufacturers and without cloud lock-in.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions — Bambu Lab X2D without the cloud.

Can you use the Bambu Lab X2D without the cloud?

Yes. The X2D supports LAN-Only mode and then operates exclusively on the local network. You print via Bambu Studio or OrcaSlicer on the same network or via microSD card. Cloud convenience features such as remote access from outside drop out.

Is the X2D the successor to the X1 Carbon?

Yes, the X2D is positioned as the successor to the X1 Carbon and adds, among other things, a dual-nozzle toolhead and an actively heated chamber. This does not change cloud-free operation via LAN-Only mode; the feature set depends on the installed firmware.

How do I run multiple X2D without the cloud in a company?

For centrally operating several X2D printers, an on-premise MES such as leanAM augments local control with job, material and user management — without cloud dependency.
